The Expo will be the largest bicycle event of its kind in local history – and it’s completely FREE and family-friendly! Besides getting to hang out with other SFBC members and friends, you’ll get to see thousands of cool, innovative, new and vintage bicycles, bike parts and shway/accessories of all kinds. Bike shops, clubs, racing groups and other nonprofits will all be there.
And… they are giving away a new bike every 2 hours!
There will be all kinds of bicycles – Organizers are planning for a bicycle-themed fashion show, spinning demos, an outdoor BMX demo with BMX professionals Nigel Sylvester and Lenny Westfall, and more pedal-powered good times. Clearly, it was set up to be a huge industry affair, but the coordinators are making every effort to be inclusive and fun so we are happy to be a part of it. Expect to leave this event inspired, excited and with lots of new tips on bicycle riding, maintenance, advocacy and more.
For some of you, Ft. Lauderdale’s War Memorial Auditorium seems far away, but it’s less than 20 minutes by bike from the Tri-Rail station and is easily accessible off I-95 on the weekend (no traffic!) As we get closer to the big weekend, we’ll post up opportunities to carpool on our facebook page. Speaking of facebook, check out the Expo’s page here and RSVP for the event here. And please let us know if you can help volunteer at our booth while you’re there.
